Centimeters to pixels at 300 DPI converts metric measurements to pixels by first converting to inches, then multiplying by 300. For metric-based design, 1 cm = 0.393701 inches, so pixels = cm × 0.393701 × DPI. At 300 DPI, 1 cm = 118.11 pixels. This converter is essential for designers working with A4 (21×29.7 cm), A3, and other ISO paper formats.

A centimeter is 1/100 of a meter in the metric system, equal to approximately 0.393701 inches. Most countries outside the US use metric measurements for print and design work.
To convert cm to pixels, you first convert centimeters to inches (divide by 2.54), then multiply by DPI. At 300 DPI: px = cm × 300 ÷ 2.54 = cm × 118.11.
Common ISO paper sizes in cm: A4 = 21.0×29.7 cm, A3 = 29.7×42.0 cm, A5 = 14.8×21.0 cm. At 300 DPI: A4 = 2,480×3,508 pixels, A3 = 3,508×4,961 pixels.

A centimeter does not correspond to one permanent pixel count. The result depends on the density assigned to the finished image or output device. For a CSS layout, 96 PPI is the usual reference, while commercial print files are commonly prepared at 300 DPI. Drafts, newspaper artwork, and large posters may use a lower density because they are viewed differently. Confirm the required density with the printer, design brief, or export preset before converting a measurement.
Changing density changes the pixel result in direct proportion. A 10 cm width is about 378 pixels at 96 PPI, 591 pixels at 150 DPI, and 1,181 pixels at 300 DPI. None of those answers is universally correct; each describes the same physical width under a different output assumption. Record the density alongside the result so another designer can reproduce the calculation.
For a two-dimensional document, convert both width and height with the same DPI. An A4 page measures 21 by 29.7 cm before bleed. At 300 DPI, that is approximately 2,480 by 3,508 pixels. If a printer requests 3 mm bleed on every edge, the artwork becomes 21.6 by 30.3 cm because 0.3 cm is added to both sides of each dimension. Convert the expanded document size rather than adding an estimated number of pixels afterward.
Keep trim size, bleed size, and safe area separate in the source file. Bleed extends artwork beyond the cut line; the safe area keeps text and logos away from that line. The calculator supplies dimensions, but it cannot decide a printer's production tolerances. Use the printer's template whenever one is available and compare its final pixel dimensions with your calculation before export.
Centimeter conversions often produce decimal pixel values because 2.54 centimeters equals exactly one inch. Preserve the decimal result while planning and round only when an application requires whole pixels. Rounding each intermediate value can create mismatched edges, especially across grids, repeated labels, or multi-panel artwork. For raster image dimensions, rounding to the nearest whole pixel is normally appropriate; for vector layouts, retain the physical centimeter dimensions and let the export process rasterize them.
Also distinguish resizing from changing resolution metadata. Typing 300 DPI into an existing image does not create missing detail unless the software resamples it, and resampling invents pixels rather than recovering original information. Check the source pixel dimensions first, calculate the required output dimensions, and compare the two before deciding whether the file is suitable for the intended size.
The calculation assumes that the measurement and DPI/PPI value refer to the same output workflow. It performs a mathematical conversion; it does not inspect an image file, detect a screen's density, change image resolution, or predict print quality.
Real printed or displayed size can differ because of application scaling, printer drivers, operating-system scaling, browser zoom, resampling, cropping, or device settings. Presets are illustrative and are not live device measurements.
Conversions use exact unit relationships internally, preserve full numeric precision during calculation, and round only the displayed result. One inch equals exactly 25.4 millimeters, 2.54 centimeters, 72 typographic points, or 6 picas. Pixels require a DPI/PPI input because a pixel has no fixed physical length by itself.
